Delhi Tour Humayun's Tomb
Humayun's tomb is known as the first example of the monumental scale that would characterize subsequent Mughal imperial architecture. The tomb sits at the center of a plinth, about 21 feet (7m) high. The top of its central dome reaches 140 feet from the ground. The dome is double-layered; the outer layer supports the white marble exterior facing, while the inner one defines the cavernous interior volume. The rest of the tomb is clad in red sandstone, with white marble ornamentation.
India Gate
This magnificent stone archway originally known as All India War Memorial, designed by architect Edwin Lutyens. The memorial which was built to commemorate more than 90,000 soldiers died during World War 1. Below this 42mtr. Arch, burns a flame beside an inverted rifle and a helmet and a sentry ceremonially guards the site.
Rashtrapati Bhavan
The palatial building built on an area of 330 acres is now an official residence of President of India. The architectural wonder is a mixture of Mughal and Western styles. The palace has 340 rooms, 37 salons, 74 lobbies, 18 staircases and 37 foundations. It has an impressive garden called the Mughal Gardens, which is open to the public for a short while.
Raj Ghat
Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi is a simple black marble platform that marks the spot of his cremation on 31 January 1948. It is left open to the sky while an eternal flame burns perpetually at one end. It is located on the banks of the river Yamuna in Delhi, India.
Jama Masjid
Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in India. The mosque has the capacity to accommodate 25,000 devotees. One of the corner room in-house the foot prints of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad. Close to some 5,000 craftsmen were involved in the construction of mosque.
Qutab Minar
Qutub is the tallest brick minaret in the world, and an important example of Indo-Islamic Architecture. It is 72 meters high (237.8 ft) with 379 steps leading to the top. The diameter of the base is 14.3 meters wide while the top floor measures 2.75 meters in diameter. Surrounding the building are many fine examples of Indian artwork from the time it was built in 1193.
Lotus Temple
Lotus Temple is one of the remarkable architectures of Bahai faith. It is located at Kalkaji in New Delhi. The temple looks like a lotus flower and is made of marble, cement, dolomite and sand. The temple has no restrictions for visitors and is open to people from all religions. The place provides immaculate environment for meditation, peace and wisdom. The Bahai temple was completed in 1986.
